Project details
Bjorn van Dijl of the Willaerts Group is the owner of La Barrage, as well as KITA and Il Mercato Ambacht in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, The Netherlands, and many more. Although the interiors of all the restaurants differ, they share a contemporary and innovative style. All the restaurants of the Willaerts Group are known for their high-quality interiors with a modern aesthetic, and no compromises were made with La Barrage either.
Ferry Tabeling is an architect known for designing exceptional hospitality projects, and this project is no exception. An old bank building in Alblasserdam – The Netherlands has been transformed into a unique hospitality venue. With three floors and a terrace by the water, the location offers ample space for guests to unwind and enjoy a special setting, where they can experience the luxury, atmosphere, and high-quality interior design.
A standout feature is the use of daisy james wallpaper, “The Marble Food.” This luxurious designer wallpaper, inspired by Dutch masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Frans Hals, incorporates a collage-like structure of classic masterpieces in warm brown tones. These artistic influences perfectly complement the interior design, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere. There’s no need for additional artwork on the walls, as the saying goes:
“With influences from Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Vermeer, this wallpaper is a masterpiece in itself.”
